| COP 30 | – The Bioamazon Network promotes pan-Amazonian scientific cooperation and solutions to climate challenges

November 15, 2025 | By: Bioamazonia Network

Belém do Pará, Brazil, November 10, 2025

Starting this week, the Bioamazon Network is actively participating in COP30 in Belém with a program celebrating Amazonian science and regional cooperation.

Between November 11th and 15th, the Network is promoting five thematic dialogues at the Amazonia Sempre Station, in addition to the photographic exhibition «Amazonia Seen Through Eyes» and the launch of the publication «Paths to Pan-Amazonian Science.».

By bringing together leading biodiversity research and innovation institutes from five countries in the region, the Bioamazonía Network represents a concrete and collaborative response to the climatic and socio-environmental challenges facing the Amazon. Its mission is to strengthen pan-Amazon scientific and technological capacities, generate and share knowledge, and promote innovative solutions for the bioeconomy and biodiversity conservation.

The inaugural event, «Dynamics of Conflicts and Threats to Biodiversity in the Pan-Amazon,» will take place tomorrow, November 11, at 11:00 AM, in the auditorium of the Estação Amazônia Sempre (Goeldi Museum). The dialogue will bring together specialists from Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador to analyze the pressures threatening biodiversity in Amazonian territories and propose scientific pathways to strengthen its protection and governance.

Throughout the week, the debates will address structural issues for the future of the biome:

🔸Knowledge and Local Governance Systems (11/12)

🔸Amazonian Bioeconomy Driven by Science (11/13)

Integrated approach to biodiversity knowledge and management (11/14)

🔸and the launch of the publication «Paths to Pan-Amazonian Science» (11/15)

The exhibition «Amazonia Through Our Eyes,» installed at the Goeldi Museum's Zoobotanical Park, presents striking images captured by researchers from member institutes, revealing the visible transformations of the Amazon and the solutions that emerge from within it.

Composed of eight institutions from five countries, including the Humboldt Institute (Colombia), INPA and the Goeldi Museum (Brazil), IIAP (Peru), INABIO (Ecuador), and the Institute of Ecology/UMSA (Bolivia), the Bioamazon Network is a symbol of science made with, for, and by the Amazon.

The presence of the Bioamazonía Network at COP30 reaffirms the importance of cross-border scientific cooperation as an essential tool for confronting the climate crisis and ensuring a sustainable future for the biome and its peoples.
